About Bombfell
Bombfell is a subscription service for men’s fashion and personal styling that connects customers with high-quality brands. From labels you love to colors that complement your skin tone to designs that flatter your figure, Bombfell provides you with a personal stylist who listens to you and selects clothing that suits your taste.
If you like the selection, keep it. If not, don’t worry. You can return the items at any time, free of charge and without giving a reason. That’s a stroke of luck. This review of the Bombfell subscription found that the personal styling boxes have been featured in several media publications, including Time, The Wall Street Journal, Business Inside, TechCrunch, ABC News, and CBS, not to mention YouTube channels that have literally unboxed the boxes.
Bombshell entered the business long before its current competitors. The brand’s social media following reflects the support and trust it has gained over the years: Bombfell has 158,000 followers on Facebook and 66,100 on Instagram. That’s a clear sign of success. Or is it?
This Bombshell subscription review gives you the answer by taking a detailed look at the brand and presenting a selection of its bestsellers, customer reviews, promotions, and more. In short, we help you decide whether the brand is really as bombastic as it claims to be and whether its products are worth buying.
Overview of Bombfell
A degree from Harvard prepared best friends Jason Kim and Bernie Yoo to take on the world, but it didn’t prepare them to choose the right clothes to fit in. The duo found themselves dragging their more fashion-conscious friends and family members along to help them choose their wardrobe, only to find themselves in the same situation a few years later.
Unlike some of us, they weren’t content to settle for faded and outdated clothes. They decided to do something about it. In 2011, Kim and Yoo teamed up with fashion expert Sarah Lee to launch a subscription service that helped men keep their wardrobes up to date. Bombfell NYC was born.
Bombfell asks you to think of the company as a friend who knows everything about your size and style and sends you brand-name clothing that suits your taste every month.
What makes Bombshell special is that it caters to different types of men: men who don’t like shopping or are too busy to pick out clothes, men who want to improve their style and refresh their wardrobe, and men who are looking for fashion advice.
Based on my research on the brand and customer reviews, here are the highlights of this Bombshell subscription review:

How Does Bombfell Work?
This review of the Bombfell subscription follows the path of Bombfell clothing from the store to the box to your closet.
- Bombfell asks you detailed questions about your typical weekday attire (sports/leisure, business casual, casual), your height and weight (it took some persuasion to get me to step on those darn scales), your pants and shirt sizes, your fit (tight-fitting, loose-fitting), and your body shape (wider stomach, chest matches hips, chest wider than hips).
- Next you select the stores where you usually shop (the Bombfell website provides a list of 16 stores), the style you wear, and your preferred budget for a range of items (T-shirts, shirts, shorts, pants, jeans, sweaters, jackets, socks, and underwear).
- Bombfell uses artificial intelligence with human involvement to generate recommended style selections based on the data from the questionnaire.
- A Bombfell stylist then uses this information to select items by hand.
- Once the style selections have been made, you will receive a preview and have 48 hours to change the items according to your preferences, communicate with the stylist, and receive style tips.
Bombfell Personal Styling Box

There’s a party you’re looking forward to. You can picture yourself in a chic outfit, but you can’t quite imagine the details yet. You only have a vague idea. An idea is a good start for Bombfell to dress you.
In this section of the Bombfell subscription review, we’ll show you a selection of items currently included in the brand’s personal styling box. Let’s unpack a few of them and see what’s inside.
Lucky Brand Athletic Fit Pant

With their tapered legs and relaxed fit, Lucky Brand Athletic Fit Pants are chinos for every season, particularly popular with people who have an athletic build (or those who are confident they do). These pants are made from 72% cotton and a fiber blend that regulates temperature, keeping you comfortable in the heat and warm in the cold.
The price is $99. Other features of these pants include a zipper, a slanted pocket, two double back pockets, and a coin pocket. The number of pockets sewn into these pants is impressive, to say the least. The Lucky Brand Athletic Fit Pant is available in Sand, Monk’s Robe, and Laurel Wreath colors. Sizes range from 30×30 to 40×32.
I’m no stylist, but if your Bombfell Personal Styling Box includes these chinos along with a Henley shirt, you’re guaranteed to turn a few envious heads when you wear them.
Alternative Apparel Eco-Jersey Crew Neck LS Tee

Are you tired of shouting yourself hoarse about climate change and environmental protection? Why not just wear your opinion on your sleeve? The Alternative Apparel Eco-Jersey Crew Neck LS Tee is based on environmentally friendly practices and is made from organic and recycled materials wherever possible.
Made in the USA, this product is made from a blend of 50% polyester, 38% cotton, and 12% rayon. The tee costs $38, is popular for its softness, and is available in black. If you want to identify with a brand that uses sustainable materials and has a low carbon footprint, Alternative Apparel is for you.
If you want to spend a weekend at home drinking hot chocolate and watching the fall colors, or enjoy a quiet dinner with your family or friends, slip into this soft crew neck T-shirt. You can also pair this versatile garment with pants from Lucky Brand.
How Much is Bombfell?
As mentioned earlier in this Bombfell subscription review, customers only have to pay for the clothes they keep. The average price per item at Bombfell is $79, although there is considerable variation. When you sign up, you can set your budget per item, and the cost of your Bombfell box will be adjusted accordingly.
Bombfell charges a non-refundable styling fee of $20 for each order, which includes a personal stylist, free shipping and returns, and convenient at-home try-on. If you decide to keep more than one item, you will receive a discount based on the number of items:
- More than 4 items: 20% off
- 3 items: 15% off.
- 2 items: 10% off
Bombfell Reviews: What Do Customers Think?
Bombfell prices are steep. Bombfell has its share of bungle-ups during returns. Bombfell even gets the measurements wrong occasionally. But customers love the brand. And here’s why:
“I’ve been using Bombfell for six or so months now. I really enjoy the stuff I get. It’s high quality and fits well…. I get 2-3 items per month, and I generally keep at least one item. I love the convenience because everything they send is nice, and I generally hate shopping for myself,” wrote a customer in a Bombfell review Reddit.
Most Bombfell reviews Reddit were overwhelmingly positive, with subscribers noting that Bombfell’s service is an excellent value for the investment. On customer review site Highya, Bombfell got an average of 4.6/5 stars, mostly for its quality, fit and value for the price paid.
Bombfell, which is BBB-certified, is particularly popular for its feature allowing customers to preview the items selected for them before shipping, something that most Bombfell competitors don’t have. Subscribers are also effusive about the convenience of having a professional stylist’s hand in their wardrobe.
Low points for Bombfell from the customers’ perspective were few. Most of them centered on issues like being charged despite returning products by the deadline and items not meeting expectations despite customers filling out a detailed questionnaire.
Is Bombfell Worth It?
By now, the conclusion of this review of the Bombfell subscription should be clear: yes. A resounding yes. When I think about shopping, my joints and muscles fail me, and my mind goes blank. When Bombfell not only opened a door for me, but also provided me with a personal stylist to guide me through my shopping experience, I jumped at the chance.
What’s more, the brand carries some of my favorite brands in its range. If you ask me, that’s a real stroke of luck. Bombfell’s prices are on the higher end, but after my research for this review of the Bombfell subscription, it’s worth it. What sets Bombfell apart most is its unwavering commitment to quality, its attention to detail, and its customer-centric approach, supported by technology and real people.
